Wild News Wednesday - 12/4/19
Happy December, ladies and gentlemen! I know many of you may have a #Nanowrimo hangover, but it is a new month and an opportunity to start fresh!
Whether you need a break from your current work in progress or you finished you novel last month, check out the below stories to spark a new idea or just to explore the wild and awesome the world has to offer this week.
Book Santa
In the spirit of the holidays, one high school senior decided to hide books around her town for children to find, enjoy, and re-gift. Seriously, guys, it is straight out of a Hallmark movie. I love it.
The Texas Miyagi
I’m a sucker for stories where troubled heroes that find the one person to believe in them, and I’ll bet this 85-year-old teacher has been that hero for many of her students. She hasn’t missed a day of school in 26 years and doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. What a badass.
Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey
From time travel, to Groundhog’s day, to false timelines/memories, time is a thrilling plot device with an unlimited number of opportunities to be reinvented. The BBC put out a fascinating article this week about the concept of time, our perception of it, and how fragile it can be. Definitely worth a read.
One picky editor side note - I’d be interested to know if they can back up the first statement in the article and how they found that to be true. That would be a heck of a lot of research to prove.
A Romance To Remember
As a lover of romance and the concept of forever, I adore novels where the characters get to grow old together and pass peacefully. This couple of 68 years passed within days of each other, and lived a full, happy life. It is by no means the only story like this, but it is always inspiring and heartwarming to remember that happy endings like this don’t just happen in books.
A Whole New World
I don’t travel nearly as often as I should, so I’m always on the lookout for beautiful pictures of new places that I can add to my list. CNN has published their favorite travel photos of 2019, and they are gorgeous! Dive in and find somewhere new to explore and possibly place your next story!
Anything spark your imagination? I’d love to hear about it!
